Helping women build wealth, freedom, and sovereignty
through capital markets, entrepreneurship,
and artificial intelligence.

Meet the Founder

LaFonda Willis is a distinguished and award-winning stock market lawyer and strategist and the founder of Women in Capital Markets (CapX), a pioneering ecosystem helping women achieve wealth, freedom, and sovereignty through capital markets, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence.

She founded Women in Capital Markets (CapX) because she believes:

1. Women can and should be stewards of capital.

2. Women can and should leverage their own gifts, talents, expertise, and skills to create financial independence.

3. The financial security we desire comes from within, not from without.

The visionary and architect behind Women in Capital Markets (CapX), LaFonda is a two-time entrepreneur on a mission to demystify and democratize wealth-building through financial education, strategic investing, and ownership.

She equips women not only to understand the markets, but to participate in them as owners, and build businesses and brands they can leverage as engines to create wealth.

A former teacher and education leader, she is known for translating complexity into clarity, and helping people move from information to ownership with confidence and conviction.

Through her newsletter, Compound Capital, she delivers clear investing insights and actionable strategies to help readers compound both knowledge and capital in the AI economy.

Before launching Women in Capital Markets (CapX), LaFonda practiced law at an Am Law 100 law firm in Washington, D.C., where she advised the very stock exchanges powering the U.S. economy. Her deep judicial perspective was forged earlier in her career, serving as a federal judicial law clerk at both the district and appellate levels. In these roles, LaFonda developed high-level expertise and skills analyzing complex legal issues and drafting opinions for matters involving multiple jurisdictions.

Some of LaFonda’s most recent accomplishments include being featured and recognized by Black Leaders Worldwide as:
* A Woman to Watch in 2025 and 2026
* A Woman You Need to Know in 2025 and 2026
* A Top Leader in 2025

(Black Leaders Worldwide is the largest Black-owned business club in the world, based in both the United States and the United Kingdom.)

LaFonda is also a distinguished listee of Marquis Who’s Who in America, and an elected American Bar Foundation Fellow—an honor reserved for the top 1% of lawyers in the United States and 900 lawyers internationally.
